How To Relieve Tired Feet

The feet are the most important part of the body as they have to support us and our weight throughout the day. For this reason, we must remain aware of the well-being of our feet and provide them with adequate care to keep them healthy, and above all rested. Tired feet are not able to support us every day.

Taking your shoes off will not be enough to properly relax your feet.  Indeed, the latter require care and attention. In this article we will also teach you some methods to relieve your tired feet.

What are the causes of fatigue in our feet?

Many factors can cause fatigue and a feeling of heaviness in the feet. We will also analyze them.

  • Too much effort:   Very often we subject our body to very intense physical efforts. For example, when we stand for too long, doing household chores or playing sports that do not give us enough rest for our feet. The feeling of fatigue is our body’s way of telling us that we are “abusing” our body and that it is time to set limits.

After a grueling day at work, it’s okay to come home with washed feet. It is for this reason that it may be a good idea to soak them in a bath of hot water and Epson salt.

You can also add a few rose petals or a few drops of mint, this bath will be very effective in improving your circulation. When the water cools, remove your feet, dry them well, and massage yourself with the same mint oil, or with a moisturizer.

To relax your tired feet, a massage can be very effective with a cream based on honey or mint. These three elements will blend together very well. Massage yourself in circular movements, then put on a pair of compression stockings and elevate your legs on an ottoman to relax them.

Rice water baths

Simply boil some rice in two cups of water, and cook until the water evaporates to fill the equivalent of a single cup. Filter. Let stand and add three tablespoons of yeast, or baking soda.

Immerse your feet in this bath until the water has cooled completely, then dry your feet well. Finally, finish this treatment with a good massage with a mint-based cream.

Another very useful tip that can be followed every day: try, after a hard day’s work, to place your feet against a wall for ten minutes, then massage with a moisturizer.

Perform this massage by making circular movements from the tips of the toes to the middle of the legs. 

You can also immerse your feet for about twenty minutes every night in an infusion of chamomile and lemon balm and relax.

Some tips to prevent tired feet

  • To avoid the feeling of fatigue, it is advisable to walk barefoot for half an hour a day, if you can do it in nature, in the grass or on the sand the effects will be all the more beneficial.
  • Use shoes that are wide enough for your feet.  In order to avoid any circulation problem, the heel must be high enough, but not too high either (about 5 cm) also make sure to choose shoes with not too narrow toes.
  • Eat a balanced diet and avoid foods that are too salty. Indeed, an excess of salt can cause water retention in the feet which will then be swollen.
  • To get rid of calluses and calluses, it is generally advisable to apply petroleum jelly and leave it on overnight. You can also massage your feet (the sole, and especially the heel which tends to dry out the most). It is essential to put on socks if you leave the cream on.
  • Do exercises by circling with your feet and ankles and moving small objects with your toes.
  • Roll a glass bottle with the soles of your feet on a towel for a few minutes.
