The passage of time, acne or exposure to the sun can stain our skin, especially the face.

And as we all want to have perfect, youthful skin at any time of the year (but mostly in summer) we use these famous “masks”.

In this article, we walk you through the best options for reducing facial spots without resorting to expensive creams or other lotions.

Why do spots appear on the face?

There are various reasons why spots on the face develop.

We find among the main ones:

  • For genetic and hereditary reasons
  • Age
  • Hormonal changes (pregnancy and menopause for example).

They can also be caused by poor nutrition, excessive exposure to the sun, or diseases such as pityriasis.

Some of these spots are darker than others and the size may vary depending on different factors, such as the passage of time or lack of care.

It is very important to rinse the area well after application and to use a highly protective cream before leaving your home.

Many of the ingredients used contain substances which, in contact with the sun, may have effects contrary to those desired.

1. Lemon, milk and aloe vera mask

This first recipe is very easy to prepare and should be used once a week for a continuous month.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of milk (20 ml)
  • 5 tablespoons of lemon juice (50 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel (30 gr)

Preparation

  • Squeeze the lemon then set aside in a bowl.
  • Then add the milk.
  • Cut a piece of aloe vera then remove the flesh. Add the rest of the ingredients.
  • Mix everything well then apply on the stained face.
  • Cover the affected area with gauze and leave on for a few hours before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

2. Mask with milk, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide and lemon

On this occasion we will also use milk, which acts as a softener on the skin, lemon, known for its properties to remove stains.

It is recommended to apply it overnight once a week.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of liquid glycerin (10 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered milk (20 gr)
  • 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide (10 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (20 ml)

Preparation

  • Mix the powdered milk and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl.
  • Then add the glycerin and the lemon juice then mix until you obtain a homogeneous paste.
  • Then apply the mixture to the spots on the face and leave to act for 20 minutes before rinsing off with clear water.

3. Mask with cucumber, oil and parsley

We often make the connection between cucumber and beauty treatments or balneotherapy days where washers are placed on the eyes to rest the eyelids or reduce wrinkles.

In turn, this vegetable, combined with other ingredients, has wonderful properties to reduce spots on the skin. We advise you to use this mask once a week.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of cucumber pulp (30 gr)
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley leaves (20 gr)
  • 5 tablespoons of sesame oil (or wheat germ) (75 gr)

Preparation

  • Cut the cucumber in half and remove the flesh. You can also grate it. Reserve in a container.
  • Wash the parsley and chop it as finely as possible. Add it to the cucumber.
  • Add the oil and mix well. If you wish, you can mix everything together so that the ingredients are more mixed.
  • When you have obtained a homogeneous paste, apply it on the face and, after 20 minutes of exposure, remove with lukewarm water.

4. Lemon, aloe vera and moisturizer mask

If you can’t imagine applying a 100% homemade mask to your face, you can combine it with your favorite moisturizer.

This recipe includes aloe vera and lemon, two perfect allies for removing stains and softening the skin.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of aloe vera pulp (45 gr)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (20 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of moisturizer (40 gr)

Preparation

  • Clean the aloe vera stem well then remove the thorns to work better.
  • Open it lengthwise to extract the gel then set aside in a bowl.
  • Then, squeeze the lemon juice and mix it with the aloe.
  • Then apply the mixture on the face, stretching it well.
  • Leave on for 15 minutes then remove with lukewarm water.

5. Mask with olive oil, yogurt, oats and lemon

It’s a great way to reduce skin spots and at the same time exfoliate (thanks to the oats) and remove dead cells.

We present to you an ideal recipe not only for stained faces, but also with acne or open pores. Repeat the application once a week.

 Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (16 gr)
  • 2 tablespoons of oats (flaked or flour) (20 gr)
  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt (20 gr)
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (10 ml)

Preparation

  • In a container add the oats and pour olive oil over them.
  • Then add the yogurt.
  • Squeeze the lemon and pour the juice over the previous preparation.
  • Mix well to form a smooth paste (if necessary, you can add more oats or yogurt to achieve the desired consistency).
  • Apply to the skin with circular movements and leave on for 15 minutes.
  • Remove with lukewarm water and dry with a towel, without rubbing.
  • Apply a little moisturizer to finish.

To avoid the appearance of spots on the skin, we recommend that you protect yourself from the sun and not be exposed to it at midday.

In addition, eat a healthy diet, including fruits and vegetables, and drink 2 liters of water per day.
